Practice task 2 – (page 1)

Skim Boarding

Skimboarding is a fun, exciting activity that involves riding a skimboard on shallow water. Unlike traditional surfing, skimboarding doesn’t require large waves or deep water, making it more accessible and versatile for beach-goers of all ages and experience levels. Skimboards are lightweight and oval-shaped, with a smooth bottom surface that allows riders to glide across the shore break or ride up onto the wet sand. Successful skimboarding takes skill and practice; it requires good balance and timing to catch the incoming wave and ride it out smoothly. With its laid-back vibe and unique style, skimboarding has become a popular pastime among beach enthusiasts around the world, creating a tight-knit community of skilled riders who share their passion for this fun-filled sport.

Skim boarding is a fun way to enjoy the beach and waves, but it can be difficult to learn how to do it correctly. First, choose a flat area of the beach with some shallow water. Make sure you have the right board – one that is small enough for easy maneuvering yet sturdy enough to support your weight. As you approach the incoming wave, drop the skim board onto wet sand as you start running towards it. Jump onto the board, keeping your weight centered over the middle of the board. Ride straight out into the oncoming waves while shifting your weight back and forth to maintain balance on the ride. To turn or change direction, lean in corresponding sides with more or less pressure where required. With practice and persistence: jumps, spins and other advanced tricks become possible! Enjoy yourself!
